RIP BIG PUN (NOVEMBER 10, 1971 - FEBRUARY 7, 2000)

Imagine if Big Pun was still alive? I could have pictured Terror Squad running NY around 2002/2003/2004/2005 like how G-Unit & Dipset did, with the strong arm muscle of Fat Joe, Big Pun would have risen to unforeseen heights, imagine him rapping on "lean back" instead of Remy or doing songs with Lil Wayne, Drake, Pitbull, Akon, Jim Jones or even jumping on the reggaeton bandwagon alongside NORE. Pun's death wasn't just a loss for Latinos but one for all of hip hop though we didn't see it then, the way the game is right now he would have been put in some serious hurting into most releases, he was a very well rounded rapper pound for pound & i believe would have adjusted well to the times.

Very rare clip

Big Pun getting his acting chops on

Freestyling at lunch, this when rappers showed humility to each other which btw is kind of coming back. Canibus, Big Pun, DMX, Mos Def, Mic Geronimo, John Forte along with a young Irv Gotti when he was president of Def Jam, finished their food for some rapping sessions, must have been the high cholesterol food that had them rhyming so phat!!

SMALL HISTORY OF SKATEBOARDING SHOES

Courtesy of Complex magazine.

Block: That original look came from the hip-hop days. Run-DMC put their tongues out, or people would actually cut out a tongue from an old shoe and put it under their tongue on a new shoe.

Eric Koston, professional skater: My very first skate shoes were some Airwalks. They had this “A” on the side and a spider-web print. You could get them at Mervin’s for like 20 bucks, around 1986.

Bird: People that didn’t skate saw the skate shoe and thought they were more comfortable because they were bigger and bulkier and had more padding. That had a lot to do with the explosion of it.

Tony Hawk: Airwalk was born out of skating, but they hit their biggest stride as skateboarding’s popularity was waning. They were open to new ideas and willing to try anything. And I was thankful to be getting paid by any of my sponsors at all.

Block: The original Jordans really influenced the way skateboard shoes are today. The simple sole design, the way that the panels on the upper works, that type of thing. And that evolved into the Dunk, and evolved into many of the skateboard shoes that are out today.

A JOURNEY INTO AWKWARD MOMENTS AT THE GYM

Fat Joe feat. Young Jeezy - Ha Ha

Here's a leaked joint off of Fat Joe's upcoming album "the darkside", in which sounds like he's going back to his gritty street roots for rappin' inspiration.. Joey Crack hired Young Jeezy to bring out the southern guns on this.
I calculated a few days ago that since Fat Joe came out in 1993 with Flow Joe he has averaged one album every 18 months, now thats one hardworking dude & in a tough business.. where nothing was ever really put on his lap.

INTERVIEW WITH PRESIDENT OBAMA'S BULLETPROOF TAILOR

In Colombia lies the homeland of the mystic "Macondo" a bizarre yet magical town where philosophical & weird things occur, a bit like a gypsy freak show that was bred out of Nobel prize winning Colombian novelist Garcia Marquez & his wild imagination... he seems to personify Colombians with a near perfection (but which is also well suited to other countries in the region). You probably might have heard the word "Macondo" toss around a by Spanish students on Facebook or Twitter when satirically referring to their homeland or stubbornest figures in society like Hugo Chavez etc.. it is also a restaurant chain in the American northeast & a fast food joint in South America.

Keeping up with Black History month.. why not?

You know that using Tyra Banks as an example of something thats "common" isn't the best idea for an Egg-Blogg post but eh, shes has good convo

So your a real gangsta & your discussing illegal business online?.... Watch out!

By Declan McCullagh for cnet.com
"A forthcoming survey of computer crime investigators suggests that electronic surveillance is a bit more commonplace than most people might expect.

Even a relatively small group of 100 police working on online investigations reports submitting as many as 22,800 legal requests for information a year to Internet and e-mail providers, a category that includes both subpoenas and search warrants.

CNET has reviewed a presentation scheduled to be given at a federal task force meeting on Thursday, which says that the survey respondents said they submitted a total of anywhere from 2,868 to 22,800 requests for information a year. (See one excerpt and another.)

"Most Internet users do not realize how often the government is demanding personal information from companies, often without judicial oversight, and how often companies turn it over," says Nicole Ozer, technology director for the ACLU of Northern California. "Companies are refusing to disclose to the public how many demands they get. It appears that the government is demanding that Internet companies turn over so much personal information about users, so often, that companies can't keep up."

No law requires that the number of subpoenas and search warrants sent to Internet and e-mail providers be made public. Federal law does require the disclosure of certain types of wiretaps -- in 2004, for instance, there were 1,442 non-terrorism-related wiretaps, and only 4 percent targeted computers and electronic devices.

Sixty-one of survey respondents reported that their investigations were "detrimentally" affected because data were not retained long enough, and 47 percent said they had to end an investigation because data were not retained. The survey was conducted in late October 2009. (In general, subscriber information such as billing addresses can be obtained with a subpoena, and content information such as the contents of an e-mail message can be obtained with a search warrant.)

The survey, according to two people with knowledge of the situation, is part of a broader push from law enforcement agencies to alter the ground rules of online investigations. Other components include renewed calls for laws requiring Internet companies to store data about their users for up to five years, and a push for a national Web interface linking police computers with those of Internet and e-mail providers so requests can be sent and received electronically instead of via fax."

Cuba has installed spyware in cybercafé computers so that when users type “banned” words in an e-mail, such as the name of a known political dissident, they see a warning that they are writing things considered a “threat to state security” and the Web navigator then immediately shuts down.

China keeps a tight grip on what is written and downloaded by users and spends an enormous amount on Internet surveillance equipment and hires armies of informants and cyber-police.
China has already signed an agreement with Skype to block key-words, so how can we be sure our conversations are not being listened to? How do we know if Skype will not also allow (or already has allowed) the Chinese police to spy on its customers?
